This prototype for a series of check dams will slow erosion at the edge of the short grass

 prairie but also becomes a bridge element for a proposed trail.  With the granite marker 

 and waterflow icon, this project will become part of an interpretive trail to the short grass  

    prairie above the river bottom - an ignored but important part of the Colorado landscape.
