PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Selected Public Art Projects:

Watershed Stones” Xeriscape Garden, City Hall, Fort Collins, Colorado, 2005.  A sculptural translation of the region’s hydrological continuum, the environmental art work offers a variety of water experiences while utilizing  low flows appropriate to the xeriscape garden concept.

Confluence”, Mitre Corporation Headquarters, McLean, Virginia, 2003.  This granite fountain forms the centerpiece of the courtyard garden of this corporate complex.  Split from a single 10ton boulder, the three stone elements with stainless steel tubes slotted into each piece stands as a dramatic contrast to the formal plantings.

”Flowline”, Sculptural seating, Jackson Sculpture Garden, Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, Pueblo, Colorado, 2003.  Commissioned as a memorial to Karen Adams whose plantings added so much vitality to the sculpture garden.

“Passage”, Artwalk / Exhibition Space, Arts and Humanities Buildings, Mesa State College, Grand Junction, Colorado, 2002. This space was created to offer a range of outdoor exhibition opportunities for sculpture and other art events while establishing a connection to the primary North- South pedestrian corridor within the campus.

Town of Vail, Meadow Drive Streetscape. The Art in Public Places Board hired me to work with the design team to integrate public art into this 2.3 million dollar urban design project, identifying potential sites and participants and contributing various site-specific proposals.

"Topos", West Mall, Atwood Student Center, St. Cloud State University, Saint Cloud, Minnesota, 1999 - 2000. Fountain of large granite slabs inspired by the topography of the campus that runs along the banks of the Mississippi River.

Early Integration Public Art Project,Science Building, Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO., 1998-2000 - Selected as the public artist to collaborate with the design team to develop the public art component  for this new building within the Science Complex.

Historic Arkansas Riverwalk Project, Pueblo, CO. 1998 -99 - Selected as the site artist to contribute sculptural character to a block long section of this urban riverfront restoration project, including the creation of a major water feature.

"Spiral Code", Ross Hall, University of Northern Colorado, Greeley CO., 1998 - Sculptural seating cut into the landscape, the shapes evoking the curving forms of the double helix.

Fountains, the Courtyard at Rock Spring, Rock Springs, Maryland 1996 - a pair of stone basins in an exterior courtyard of an office building by Pei, Cobb, and Freed.  A collaboration with Michael Vergason Landscape Architect, Virginia.

"Granite Lines", Student Center Courtyard, Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO., 1997 - A series of low granite elements that take their form cues from the interaction of the geology and hydrology of this campus site.

 Watermarks at the Pueblo Nature Center, Pueblo, Colorado, 1995-96 - three sculptural systems that mark the movement of water sculpturally while solving storm water runoff problems 

"Arcs", City Place Park, Silver Spring,Maryland 1992 - This landscape element was created in a small urban park as part of a major retail development project. 

 Fountain- City Place, Silver Spring, Maryland 1992 - This site-responsive piece was commissioned for a streetscape project within a urban development project.  Reviewed and approved by the Maryland- National Capital Park and Planning Commission. 

Ballston Plaza Fountain, Arlington, Va. 1991- Public art piece within urban park project.

Eco-Revelatory Design: Nature Constructed /Nature Revealed, University of Illinois Art Museum, September 1998.  Major exhibiton of 10 ecological designers traveling to Chicago, Boston, New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C.

Metaphors of Transformation, Brunnier Art Museum, Iowa State University, March-June 1998.  One of nine artists from across the United States selected for this environmental art exhibition and video catalogue with artist interviews.
